Greetings from the English corner!

Greetings from the English corner!

What once started as an ‘after-school English activity’ at the Flosbeugel many years and at least three laptops ago, ultimately led to my involvement in the resurgence of the Klaverweid as a dual language primary school. This undertaking marked the beginning of a marvellously enjoyable and memorable partnership which ran from September 2014 up to the present day.

How quickly time passes! My then group 1-2 students, are now doing so very well in group 5. Following their educational development in general, and their advancement in the English language, in particular, has given me immense pleasure.

So many memories, so many themes! Mrs Wishy-Washy was a great favourite of mine. Likewise, Miss Polly and her dolly or the wonderfully entertaining “Goodnight Gorilla” theme and, indeed, our current theme on transport, were all very enjoyable.

And so, as I prepare to leave the Klaverweid to take up a position at the R.S.G. dual language department, I would like to thank several people who have made these past years so worthwhile. Firstly, Wilco Dam, for his trust in what we could achieve as a team. Secondly, the remarkable colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with over the years including Ashley who worked alongside me as a fellow native speaker throughout this last year and lastly, and most importantly, the pupils themselves. To be met every week with such a warm welcome, such high motivation levels and such enthusiasm to learn, made every Wednesday morning the highlight of my week.

Hopefully, in the not too distant future, I will be able to welcome these very pupils into my classes once again, this time at the R.S.G.

In the meantime, I’d like to wish everyone a wonderful and sun-filled summer.

Every good wish,

(Miss) Mary
